What is an apprenticeship?
From the age of 15 you are allowed to get an apprenticeship. Here you can find an explanation, what an apprenticeship is. If you might want to go to university after completing your apprenticeship, you can sign up for apprenticeship combined with a general qualification for university entrance (Lehre mit Matura, information in German). Here you can find a list of all jobs in Austria (information in German).
- As soon as you have have been granted asylum, you can start an apprenticeship in all jobs (information in German).
Do you need help with searching for an apprenticeship?
Everywhere in Austria:
- You are not sure which apprenticeship would be the best for you? Get more information from the project Lehre? Respekt! (“Apprenticeship? Respect!”, information in German).
- If you are younger than 19 and have not found an apprenticeship yet, go to AMS and sign up for a Überbetriebliche Lehrausbildung (“industry-wide apprenticeship”, information in German).
- On the Lehrlingsportal (“Portal for apprenticeship”, information in German) you can directly apply for a job opening for an apprenticeship.
- Lobby.16 (information in German) supports unaccompanied minors (younger than 21) that come as refugees to Austria when they are searching for an apprenticeship.
- If you need help finishing your apprenticeship, contact Jugendcoaching close to you.
- Have you been doing an apprenticeship in your home country and want to get it recognised in Austria?
- If you are younger than 30, sign up for the program JUST Integration (information in German).
- No matter how old you are, contact WAFF and finish your apprenticeship there (information in German). Or get informed at Check in plus (information in German), how you can use your skills and job experience for further education.
In Styria:
- Are you younger than 25 and do you want to start an apprenticeship in tourism? Apply at INPETO (information in German).
In Burgenland:
